Graduates of the River Shipping College are the main skill pool for the Volga Shipping Company. The Academy cadets start their operational practice on board ships of the shipping company, and many of them continue their careers in the Volga Shipping Company.
It was an outright gift of the Volga Shipping Company for the River Shipping College to equip a computer class for navigators of the future. About 400 thousand rubles were invested to purchase furniture, computers and other equipment to support the educational process. The Shipping Company gifted the River Shipping College with equipping an IT room for navigators of the future.
In the 145th anniversary solemn event for the first river shipping educational institution in Russia - the I.P Kulibin Nizhny Novgorod River College, - cadets, students, graduates, employers and the city leaders took part.

In 1872 an industrial school was opened in Nizhny Novgorod, named Kulibinsky in honour of Ivan Petrovich Kulibin, famous Nizhny Novgorod mechanic and inventor. 15 years later the first river shipping school of the Ministry of Transportation was opened in the city. In 1919, the handicraft and river schools were merged into the Nizhny Novgorod Technical College of Water Transport named after IP Kulibin. Over its long history, the college has trained over 55,000 specialists for the civilian fleet. Since 2007, the River Shipping College is part of the Volga State University of Water Transport.
