In the navigation of 2017, 143 students of trade educational institutions of the country undertook practical training aboard ships of the cargo and towing fleet of the Volga Shipping Company. All the trainees worked in-house of the company.
For taking the shipping training, cadets arrived as ever from the N.D.Sergeev Volgograd Technical College of Water Transport (78 cadets), the I.P Kulibin Nizhny Novgorod Fluvial College (30 cadets), as well as students of the Volga State University of Water Transport, the Caspian Institute of Marine and River Transport, the Bor Engineering and Economic College, the Chkalovsk Transport Technical School, and the Gorodets College
During practical training under guidance of skilled fluvial officer-trainers, cadets receive special training in piloting motor ships of various designs, and skills in maintaining of shipboard machinery and equipment.
In 2017, the Volga Shipping Company allowed 1.6 million roubles for practical training of cadets aboard ships of the shipping company, and purchase of guidelines, manuals and textbooks, and navigation simulators for trade technical institutions, including about 400,000 roubles for equipping a computer class for future navigators studying in the I.P. Kulibin Nizhny Novgorod Fluvial College.
