The Volga Shipping’s crew rescued a family in Rybinsk Reservoir

On August 8, 2016 the crew of the OT-2400 type push-tug (the Volga Shipping OJSC (a part of the UCL Holding) is the ship owner) rescued a family of 3 members in Rybinsk Reservoir.

The push-tug with an empty section (a barge) was on the way from Moscow to Cherepovets, when they got a SOS-signal from a small size vessel. Fall of the waves was up to 1.8 meters and wind gusting to 21m per sec (a storm of force 7-8). A family with a 5yo child was on the vessel. Amid poor weather conditions the captain failed to control the small vessel and a stormy wind took the vessel to the open part of the Rybinsk Reservoir.

A.I. Levochkin, the captain of the OT-2446 push-tug got a SOS-signal at 14:55, anchored the barge and moved to the search and rescue region. In an hour the push-tug managed to get close to the small size vessel and take people on board where they got necessary help.

The rescued people were in good health and were delivered on board the ship Puteysky 404, the small size vessel was taken in tow. The motor vessel Puteysky 404 took the family to the Koprino village (Yaroslavl region).

The OT-2446 push-tug with a section went on moving to the port of loading.
